De Nieuwe Gevers is a platform that brings volunteers and charities together. It focuses on skill-based volunteering, which means that professionals use their specific skills and knowledge to support non-profit organizations.Ā This gives volunteers an opportunity to contribute to do good for the world, make great collaborations and work on their skills šŸ’›
In the fast-paced startup environment I organized, conceptualized and set-upĀ email campaigns, create landing pages and bring structure in the social media communication and designs.Ā
I for example identified a significant problem in the primary communication flow (email) between De Nieuwe Gevers and the volunteers: a substantial number of volunteers were losing contact with the company. These volunteers often unsubscribed temporarily due to being too busy but unintentionally lost all future communication.
To address this, I implemented a reminder flow that ensured at least 1,200 volunteers would not lose touch with De Nieuwe Gevers. This solution would retainĀ almost 6% of the community who would have otherwise been disconnected.
What was going on:
Volunteers temporarily unsubscribed from communications due to busy schedules, resulting in a complete loss of future contact. This led to missed opportunities for volunteers who later wanted to re-engage with the organization.
Solution:
By introducing a reminder flow, we ensured volunteers who unsubscribed temporarily received periodic reminders. This approach maintained their connection with De Nieuwe Gevers, allowing them to re-engage when they had more availability.
Outcome:
- For De Nieuwe Gevers:Ā Improved retention of volunteers, ensuring a stronger, more connected community.
- For Volunteers:Ā Maintained headspace during busy periods without losing the opportunity to reconnect and volunteer in the future.
Both the company and the volunteers benefited from this solution, leading to a more robust and engaged volunteer network. Problem solved!
